What does your typical day at work look like?

At present, due to the recent rebrand, a normal day consists of overseeing the continued roll out of our new brand to ensure all of our legacy marketing material is updated. I’m also working on our new website so a lot of time is spent looking at the UX and flow of the site.

Like any role though, what I plan to achieve at the start of the day can turn out to be quite different as the day progresses. Emails and phone calls can soon throw a curve ball and I may (and usually do) have to turn my attention to something I hadn’t planned for.

How many people do you think you speak to during the day?

When in the office, around 30 people. But as I’m currently remotely working I’d say no more than 10-15 people per day.

What do you aim to accomplish each day?

Drive key projects as much as possible and ensure above else progress is made in everything I do. Today should always be an improvement on yesterday.

What three words would you say describes your role?

Vision, creative and thought provoking (is that more than three?)

What has been your most memorable work moment so far?

Getting our new brand name launched. The name was only officially agreed on the 12th February giving us less than 4 weeks to create the logo and essential material ready for launch on the 10th March. It was exciting but at the same time I could feel the pressure. The positive response from the business, our customers and partners has certainly been rewarding for me and the team of people involved in the project.

What’s your favourite thing about the job?

Everyday brings something new. Marketing touches a lot of different aspects of the business and it’s great to be involved and in some part make a difference to the overall outcome.

Outside of work, what do you enjoy doing?

Anything with my family. I love being outdoors and my happy place is being in the garden. I’m also a bit of a car fan!

If you could go anywhere on holiday, where would it be?

Miami. It’s where I met my wife and holds a special place in my heart. Plus the beaches are great and the mojitos are the best I’ve had!

What gets you on your Soapbox? (i.e. what annoys you/issues that you are passionate about)

Negativity. Yes we all like a moan but really don’t like being negative for the sake of it. In particular when people are negative about our national health service. We are so lucky to have a system like we have got but some people can’t help but criticise it. Ok it may not be perfect, but what is!
