Servelec Technologies business optimisation team in Dorking rounded off 2017 with accreditation success by achieving the ISO/IEC27001:2013 standard. This standard recognises best practise in information security management.

The standard provides requirements for establishing, implementing, maintaining and continually improving an Information Management Security System (ISMS). The ISMS preserves the confidentiality, integrity and availability of information by applying a risk management process and gives confidence to interested parties that risks are adequately managed.

Information security is crucially important to businesses, especially with the increasing reliance on information technology. It is important that organisations protect critical data assets to ensure continuing client confidence as well as securing critical assets. The ISO/IEC 27001: 2013 accreditation is one in which customers are increasingly demanding as a requirement to illustrate commitment to the safe handling of their data.

Louise Beechey, Security Officer at Servelec Technologies in Dorking, was specially trained by BSI as an ISO27001 implementer, and was supported by key members of Servelec Technologies and Servelec Group throughout the process. All staff at Servelec Technologies in Dorking were trained in information security awareness and the ISMS has now been successfully in effect for over three months.

The team achieved the accreditation on their first attempt, showing their commitment to best practise and keeping up with the latest advancements in technology.
