Servelec Technologies is proud to have delivered operational efficiencies and significant cost savings to Wessex Water with its innovative Optimiser control system. Optimiser has helped Wessex Water to deliver the first stage of their Integrated Water Supply Grid, the largest and most complex project the water company has ever undertaken.
The project will serve to meet future demand for water and ensure security and quality of supply to customers while reducing water abstractions in areas of low river flows. Wessex Water used Servelec Technologies’ real time automatic closed loop pump control system, Optimiser, for their water network which has introduced a different way of working and delivered energy cost savings of 10% at key sites.
The project has been nominated for the ICE South West Civil Engineering Project of the Year People's Choice Award for which voting is currently underway.
Optimiser allows a holistic view to be taken of the supply network rather than decisions being based solely on the current water level in the adjacent reservoir. This provides many benefits including delivering energy cost savings, improved security of supply and contingency planning, efficient transfer of flows in a complex supply system and optimal outage planning.
Mark Hinton, Business Optimisation Director for Servelec Technologies, commented:
“We are extremely proud to have supported Wessex Water in this project and that it has been nominated for this important award. Since Tynemarch joined the Servelec Group in 2013 the continued development of the Miser and Optimiser products to offer automated control is proving to be of value to our customers.
Optimiser is an innovative product and part of Servelec Technologies’ suite of business optimisation products developed to save our customers money by managing their assets more efficiently. Being able to demonstrate these benefits on such a high-profile project for Wessex Water is already a triumph for our team and we look forward to finding out whether the project is successful at the ICE awards in July.”
