Servelec Technologies’ client Wessex Water has been shortlisted for The Water Industry Achievement Most Innovative New Technology of the Year award for their new supply grid and use of Servelec Technologies OptiMISER solution.

Wessex Water’s water supply grid development is a £230 million project that enables the water company to meet demand in their area for the next 25 years without the need to develop new resources. The project is adding more than 200km of new pipeline including a 75km north-south trunk main. Servelec Technologies’ real-time automated water network control system OptiMISER will manage the transfer of water in numerous simultaneous directions along the trunk main by automatically controlling pumps and valves based on demand and the telemetry data collected from their network.

OptiMISER ensures the new grid is operating in the most efficient way and has introduced a different way of working for Wessex Water, delivering energy cost savings of 10% at key sites.

Mark Hinton, Business Optimisation Director for Servelec Technologies, commented:

“We are extremely proud to have supported Wessex Water in this landmark project and that it has been nominated for this award. Our commitment to continuing to develop our Miser and OptiMISER products to offer automated control is proving to be of value to our customers.

“OptiMISER is an innovative product and part of Servelec Technologies’ suite of business optimisation solutions developed to save our customers money by managing their assets more efficiently. Being able to demonstrate these benefits on such a high-profile project for Wessex Water is already a triumph for our team. We look forward to finding out whether the project is successful at the Water Industry Achievement awards in May.”

Wessex Water have also been shortlisted for the Health & Safety Initiative of the Year award, Sludge & Resource Recovery of the Year award and Water Resilience Initiative of the Year award.

The winner of the awards will be announced at the Water Industry Awards to be held on Monday 21st May 2018.
