Did you know?

Servelec RTUs are located on over 300 offshore life buoys around the England and Wales coastline.

As an island nation, the UK’s waters have always had a strategic role in the country’s safety, and likewise, the safety of those travelling on the waters continues to be of paramount importance. Trinity House, which controls the shoreline’s lighthouses and offshore buoys around England and Wales which alert ships to any dangers uses Servelec remote telemetry units to monitor the functioning of the buoys’ lights, fuel and battery. All data is collated by Servelec’s SCOPE system in the ‘24/7 Operations and Planning Centre’ in Harwich which was officially opened by Princess Anne, the Master of Trinity House in 2015. The SCOPE system also interfaces with the innovative automatic identification system mapping software (AIS) to quickly react to incidents in the sea to alert other ships remotely with known risk areas rather than deploy a physical life buoy.
